Series: Impulse
An impulse is an affective action driven by urges. We are guided by our gut feeling without thinking about it rationally. At such moments, we feel real emotions. It is possible to enjoy deep gratitude and contentment. But unfortunately, we often destroy our moments of happiness with our minds. We doubt the justification of the feeling and try to find rational reasons for things. However, there is not a rational explanation for everything.

Inspired by Anja Förster’s lines, I have been thinking about numerous ideas for change processes.
Routine is a double-edged sword. On the one hand, it can make things a lot easier. Operations that have been carried out hundreds of times run by themselves over time – without thinking, without delay, pure efficiency.
On the other hand, this very routine is synonymous with stagnation. Because if you don’t think about what you’re doing, you won’t question your work. It is precisely this doubt that is the starting point for change and, in the best case, further development.
It was precisely this doubt that made me take the next step in my art. After I had digitally processed the original photo and applied the individual layers of paint to the canvas with a brush, I applied metal leaf in certain areas.
This “golden earring” changes its enchanting effect depending on the incident light.
My colorful work Courage will remind you when you look at it that you are not stuck in a routine, but that you question things and are and remain open to change.

Gratitude is often demanded. Be it the classic scene of the child who receives a gift and is encouraged by the mother to say thank you.
Each of us has experienced a situation in which we have felt compelled to say “thank you”. But that is actually the exact opposite of what gratitude means to me.
Of course, gratitude can be feigned and, due to manners, it is sometimes appropriate and necessary.
Genuine gratitude, on the other hand – that which comes from deep within our hearts and which we truly feel – can take us further in life.
It can make us realize how much we already have, how well we are doing and how much of our lives is a gift we cannot take for granted.
Look at my picture Gratitude and realize what you have!
Because by understanding what we have, we can often better accept what we don’t have – and lead a happier life.
