That’s right!
I like to listen to music when I paint, I especially love the sound and voice of Amy Winehouse. Her album Back to Black and her life story, which she tells in her song lyrics, touched me deeply.
This gave rise to the idea of capturing Amy on a canvas.
Not only their music is legendary, but also their style. And by that I mean her beehive hairstyle, the striking eyeliner and her mostly black clothes.
And then there’s the title of her album Back to Black
Now the idea was born to paint a series of black and white icons.
Amy radiates a certain warmth and fragility for me. That is why its basic tone is much warmer gray than the gray tone of the cool Karl Lagerfeld, for example.

When fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld passed away in February 2019, there was a lot of media coverage about him. The person fascinates me.
But who is Karl Lagerfeld?
This question has been asked countless times and has still not been answered. Lagerfeld is difficult to grasp and stages himself skillfully. Sometimes as an unapproachable bird of paradise, other times eccentrically provocative, and the next moment he tells a crude joke with a hint of a smile.
Lagerfeld doesn’t like to have his cards looked at and even less to be pigeonholed.
Lagerfeld is a great role model for me because he doesn’t go with the flow, but has the courage to constantly change and reinvent himself.
Don’t give a damn about conventions … don’t dance to anyone’s tune but your own.
Have the courage to be different – be yourself!

Especially in times of Corona, humorous and funny people are the salt in the soup. I love it when people can laugh and have fun.
But above all, I think people who can laugh at themselves and make a joke about themselves are just great!
They add the right spice to life, just like the salt in the soup.
